Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute

Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute (SCI) is one of the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer centers in the Northwest.

SCI has been uniquely designed to care for the mind, body and spirit of cancer patients and their family and friends. The entire SCI experience has been designed incorporating input from cancer patients and survivors, as well as doctors, nurses, hospital staff and lay members of our community.

Expert care and access to the most advanced cancer treatment, research and technology are provided at the Cancer Institute. SCI provides a truly progressive approach to preventing and diagnosing cancer. This is the future for cancer care.

Sletten Companies and their employees donated more than $1.3 million dollars to the Cancer Institute. As a result of such a major contribution, the cancer center was named Sletten Cancer Institute.

"This is by far the largest contribution Sletten Companies has ever made, and we are proud to be a part of the cancer center,” said Erik Sletten, President of Sletten Companies.

The "Lighting the Path with Compassion and Care" capital campaign to raise funds for SCI ended December 31, 2005 and brought in more than $6 million, including the gift from Sletten Companies as well as the $750,000 Kresge Grant. In addition, Benefis Healthcare Foundation gave $2 million from the Ray & Helen Fretz Bequest and another $816,000, bringing the total to $8.8 million for the center and surpassing the goal of $8.5 million originally was set for the campaign.
