Many Benefis Healthcare patients live outside the Great Falls area, making travel for daily healthcare services difficult and expensive. Patients and their families often need comfortable, affordable housing near the hospital. The Gift of Life Family Housing Centers offers twenty-two fully-furnished apartment-style living units and six day rooms for cancer patients and their families while they are receiving medical care at Benefis Healthcare. Residents only need to provide their personal items and food. There are facilities on both East and West campuses.
In addition, RV spaces are available to patients and their families at the Anne Thornton Memorial RV Park on the West Campus and the Gift of Life RV Park on the East Campus. Each space includes connections for electricity, water, sanitation, telephone and cable television. Both the Family Housing Centers and RV Parks are free of charge to patients and their families thanks to funding from charitable contributions to Benefis Healthcare Foundation.
During their stay, residents and their families are offered a "social" hour once a week for refreshments and informal conversation.
Connie and the late Irv Anderson from Hogeland, Montana, had this to say about their experience at the Family Housing Center. "All of the patients that we met, and our visits with staff during the support meetings and coffee hours, have been such a lift for Irv and myself. We can’t say enough for this Foundation and the people that make it work each and every day. It has given us a wonderful family and home away from home. Thank you so much!"
