MayFaire 2008 Benefits Benefis Healthcare’s Women’s and Children’s Services

MayFaire 2007MayFaire is the major special event organized by Benefis Healthcare Foundation each year. The 9th Annual MayFaire is a unique event unlike anything else you will see in our region. The Benefis Healthcare Foundation will host a Golf Tournament on Friday, May 2nd, at the Meadow Lark Country Club. On Saturday, May 3rd, MayFaire continues with an elegant evening of entertainment at the Mansfield Center for the Performing Arts in the Great Falls Civic Center. The evening begins with a hosted social function in the Convention Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring a silent auction, delicious hors d’oeuvres, hosted beer and wine and a full cash bar. At 8:00 p.m. patrons move next door to the Mansfield Theatre to be entertained by award-winning pop and soul vocal group The Pointer Sisters. Following the concert, the Jimmy Thackery Blues Band will perform back in the Convention Center for all who attended the concert to enjoy, as well as a cash bar and snacks. More details will be provided.

Each year, Benefis Healthcare Foundation selects a project or service to benefit from the proceeds of MayFaire. This year’s beneficiary will be Benefis Healthcare Women’s and Children’s Services. This program—consisting of Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit—specializes in promoting wellness and strengthening the family unit by facilitating a family’s health adaptation—physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. Benefis Healthcare Foundation is proud to help support this worthy program with the proceeds from this year’s MayFaire event.

The Pointer Sisters are known for many hits, such as Fire, Jump (for my love), I’m So Excited and Neutron Dance. In 1994, the Pointer Sisters were honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After finishing a worldwide tour of the Broadway musical Ain’t Misbehavin’, they were inducted into the Soul Train Hall of Fame in 1995. They have performed their “sassy, brassy and upbeat tempo” at the White House and the Closing Ceremonies for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games.

Blues guitar legend Jimmy Thackery has been a blues & rock extraordinaire for over 30 years. Thackery, a Blues & Brews headliner in 2006, is a rock solid, blue-collar blues singer and guitarist. He’s known as a “no frills”, working man’s blues musician, who’s gruff but reedy vocals and his “tuff and meaty” guitar work will impress blues fans and keep a full dance floor. A fixture on the blues road, he has recorded with Muddy Waters, Tab Benoit and now with The Drivers, Jimmy Thackery guarantees a hot and satisfying show.

Tickets can be purchased for $45 ($47 day of concert) by phone – (406) 455-8514, at the Mansfield Box Office (M-F 9:00am-4:30pm), or online at http://ticketing.ci.great-falls.mt.us The concert tickets also include the post-party event featuring Jimmy Thackery & the Drivers. Benefis Healthcare Foundations is very proud to present both musical acts to the Great Falls musical stage, and are certain that MayFaire 2008 will be the best yet!
