[Back to News]
Beginning in May 2005, the National Garden Clubs, Inc. began promoting a two-year project called Patriotic Trees – encouraging groups to plant trees to honor those who have served our country in a patriotic way through civilian or military life.
The Rainbow Garden Club of Great Falls, a local division of the National Garden Club, participates in this program and planted a tree in honor of Darcy Dengel, Paul Erickson and Vince Kirol – the Mercy Flight Crew who lost their lives February 6, 2007.
The tree was planted and dedicated April 20th in a quiet spot east of the Red Cross Building (the ‘Black Box’), south of the driveway and within sight of the Mercy Flight helipad.
Preliminary plans have been designed for a permanent “Mercy Flight Memorial Garden” in this area; complete with shrubs, benches and a walkway for all to enjoy!
