The Mercy Flight program recently purchased SimMan and SimBaby from the proceeds of Benefis Healthcare Foundation’s annual event MayFaire. Each year, the Foundation selects a project or service to benefit from the proceeds of MayFaire and the 2006 beneficiary was Mercy Flight. The Mercy Flight team decided to purchase SimMan with last year’s proceeds and Benefis Healthcare recently purchased SimBaby. SimMan and SimBaby are portable patient simulators used for team training. They have realistic anatomy and clinical functionality and they provide simulation-based education to challenge and test students’ clinical and decision making skills during realistic patient care scenarios. There are wide-ranging product features and state-of-the-art software.
Their main benefit is thorough educational effectiveness by providing highly realistic patient simulation training experiences for the practice of teamwork, leadership and communication skills. The product features full-scale patient simulators, which allow you to perform relevant Advanced Life Support skills and scenarios. The simulators are interactive manikins, which give immediate feedback to interventions. The Mercy Flight team just completed a rigorous training session on the product features and software, and will begin taking simulators out in the field for practice and training.
